Join us for a day of fun and culture at the second annual Fall for the Arts event at beautiful Lake Gaston, NC from 10 – 5 on SATURDAY, 24 OCTOBER 2009. This year’s event includes not only local artists but exhibitors from all over North Carolina and several adjoining states, 45 artists in all. The artists have been selected from a larger group of applicants through a jury process that ensures a high level of quality and creativity. The artists will display their work at 7 private homes in the Northwest quadrant of the lake. As you enjoy the art and music at each venue, you will be served complimentary hors d’oeurves and refreshments. Fall for the arts is a first class and fun art event that is sponsored by the non-profit organization O'Sail, the Organization to Support the Arts, Infrastructure and Learning at Lake Gaston. Art can be previewed at our webiste WWW.OSAIL.ORG. Tickets are $35 per person and can be obtained through the web site or by contacting the Lake Gaston Chamber of Commerce at 252.586.5711. Lake Gaston is located 1.5 hours north of Raleigh, 3.5 hours south of Washington DC and 30 minutes from I-95. Hotels are available in Roanoke Rapids, 30 minutes from the lake.

"LAKE GASTON
Mike Poskey of the Lake Gaston Bass Club reports the following tournament results for September. 1. Mack Strickland-Tony God bolt 11.73 pounds; big fish Strickland, 4.43; 2. Mike Di acont-Jim Lewis 8.0; 3. Rick Smith-Scott Whittle 7.25.
Lake Gaston will host The National Guard FLW College Fishing event tomorrow at 7 a.m. Weigh-in will be at 1:30 p.m.
The event is the country's largest tournament fishing competition for college bass clubs. The college clubs compete for lucrative scholarships and prizes and for a chance to compete in the Forrest Wood Cup in 2010.
Teams registered include Carnegie Mellon University, Chestnut Hill College, Christopher Newport, Concord University, Cornell University, East Carolina University, Geneseo, Glenville State College, Fairmont State University, Hamden-Sydney College, JCHS, Longwood University, Lynchburg College, Mansfield University, Messiah College, N.C. State University, Penn State, Plattsburgh State, Radford University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, RIT, Shepherd University, Slippery Rock University, North Carolina, Charlotte, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, VMI, Virginia Commonwealth, Virginia Tech, West Point and West Virginia University."
